What People Are Saying

With experience as a workshop facilitator, lecturer, public speaker, consultant and community organizer, Lex works with educational institutions, non-profits, businesses, medical organizations, and individuals to provide education, resources, and consulting on LGBTQ+ identities, topics, and issues—and here’s what they have to say.

“Lex was amazing to work with. Their facilitation style was engaging and accessible, and they skillfully broke down unfamiliar concepts into material that was easy to digest and directly applicable to our space and daily operations.

I personally really enjoyed working with Lex ahead of time to tailor their body of knowledge and lesson plans to our specific arts and culture institution. They took great care to consider the programming that we offer, our audiences, staff, and office norms.

We came away with a deeper understanding of gender and sexuality, interlocking systems of oppression, and equipped to take concrete steps towards cultivating an affirming space and sense of belonging at The Institute of Contemporary Art.”

~ Billy Blender, Strategic Visioning Coordinator, the Institute of Contemporary Art at The University of Pennsylvania

“Lex's program for our department was excellent!
They gave us a ton of information in a very well structured, organized, energetic and creative way.
A lot of coaches and staff were talking about Lex's presentation for weeks after they saw it. After hearing feedback from the coaches, our students are very excited to get Lex back on campus to work with them this fall.”

~ Donald Faulstick, Director of Athletics, Amherst College

“Lex is full of energy, warm, and very approachable. Lex has in-depth knowledge about trans and LGBTQ+ people's experiences, and they have very valuable experiences and insight to share. Their workshop was well designed and tailored towards our community’s needs. It was a wonderful experience — we are so fortunate to have had them on campus.

Everyone should consider attending Lex's workshops, be themselves members of the LGBTQ+ community or allies, it is greatly beneficial to the people who attended, and those around them.”

~ Xin Huang, Associate Professor and Chair in Women’s and Gender Studies, University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee

“Lex’s passion and energy for educating individuals about LGBTQIA+ identities and topics is immediately evident from the first interaction you have with them. Whether it is an engaging educational session or an in-depth facilitated discussion, they provide an inviting, judgement-free learning environment for an audience of any size.”

~ Andrea Savage, Executive Director, New England Small College Athletic Association (NESCAC)
& Adele Burk, Associate Director for Championships & Compliance, New England Small College Athletic Association (NESCAC)

“Lex's workshop was informative, dynamic, and eye-opening. I loved Lex's energy, and how they took everyone's questions seriously and how they responded to the participants with respect and understanding. After the workshop, the staff was able to model affirming and inclusive behavior during the camp sessions, and children who often felt marginalized during the rest of the year felt included and seen. We are planning to work with Lex again for next summer's staff training; we are very excited to continue the partnership!"

~ Hideko Secrest, Education Director, Awbury Arboretum

“Lex presented for our Board of Directors Shabbat at Camp as part of a series of educational programs on inclusion. Lex is an energetic and insightful presenter who really understood our needs and our setting. They also got to know our community throughout the weekend and proved themselves to be a true advocate for our work!”

~ Anna Serviansky, Camp Director & Head of Education, Ramah Darom

“Working at a small college I wear many hats. I am a teacher, a mental coach, and an assistant track and field coach. Lex did us the honor of sharing their knowledge with our Diversity Equity and Inclusion in Sport Course.

Lex absolutely blew our expectations out of the water. They were organized, engaging, and impactful. Although the presentation was for our students, I myself walked away a changed coach. I like to think of myself as a well informed and well intentioned coach. Lex helped me become aware of blindspots, blindspots that I had never thought about.

After Lex's presentation I completely changed how I began our season. I now address how we can cheer for each other and how we can respect one another's identities and the reaction was astounding. My student-athletes literally clapped and cheered. Our students are craving for us to be more knowledgeable coaches on this subject. They need us to be well versed on the subject of gender and sexuality so we can set the boundaries that will allow them to be better teammates.

Lex's presentation provided me the tools I needed to start the season by setting an expectation of respect. I have done that in the past but this was the first time I was able to explain to them HOW to do that. We have had our most successful season and the team is closer than ever.

I can not thank Lex enough or sing higher praises of their work. If you haven't invested in Lex, you need to.”

~ Emily Mauro, Assistant Track and Field Coach, Mental Health Coach, and co-teacher of “DEI in Sport” Course, Connecticut College

“Our department benefitted greatly from the workshop series Lex provided for our staff and students on issues regarding gender, sexuality and trans athletes – their welcoming and engaging presentations created an exceptional learning environment and we look forward to working with them again in the future.”

~ Tim Ryan, Director of Athletics, Bowdoin College

“Middlebury Athletics was fortunate to have Lex Horwitz meet with our coaches and staff for two workshops on LGBTQ+ topics—centered on gender.

Our experience with Lex was great. The information was topical, important and then specifically relevant to athletics—Lex built a foundation on understanding gender then connected gender to athletics.  The material was accessible across a range of levels of experience and familiarity with the topics, and was delivered in an engaging, thoughtful, and non-judgmental manner making the experience valuable for all involved.

I would highly recommend Lex as a facilitator.”

~ Erin Quinn, Director of Athletics, Middlebury College

Fully recommend booking Lex as a motivational speaker or as a community resource!”

“Lex graciously accepted the invitation to record on our podcast, The Oddities Podcast, for an in-depth look at gender as an ‘oddity’. That particular episode is our most popular with double the views as our others.

There is no question that it’s Lex’s informative and accepting nature that allowed for the success.

They are an absolute beam of positive energy and so willing to share their education for the betterment of this world. No doubt that we’ll soon be seeing Lex give TED Talks on topics surrounding the LGBTQ+ community and how we can make this planet more accepting and understanding.”

~ Christine Pettit, co-host of “The Oddities Podcast”

“I reached out to Lex intending to record one episode.  We did three.  They are simply amazing!  I knew nothing about what it is like to be transgender and was eager to learn from them.

Lex’s energy and optimism made recording the episode easy.  We covered tons of ground and the conversation flowed naturally. Lex brings it and we hit it off right away.  There’s always more to share and I’m sure we will connect again!”
