Paths to Parenthood 6 Week Course with
Philadelphia Family Pride 2025
Lex (he/they) moderated the final session, “Forming Parenthood Identities in the Queer Community”, for Philadelphia Family Pride’s 2025 Paths to Parenthood Course.
Some topics covered with the panelists included:
1. Each individual’s journey to parenthood and the family they have formed.
2. Factors that contributed to each parent’s pathway towards their family's formation and advice for others seeking a similar family.
3. Single parenting: Differences (external considerations, barriers, etc.) that a family with two parents may not have to face (i.e., legal or other related areas).
4. Chosen family and support systems.
5. Co-Parenting: Barriers and considerations for successful and intentional co-parenting.
6. Audience Q&A
About the Course (from Philadelphia Family Pride website):
This year's Paths to Parenthood summer series for prospective LGBTQIA+ parents will be held between Thursday, August 14th and Thursday, September 18th. In addition to in-person sessions on adoption, surrogacy, sperm donation, and legal considerations, there will be social gatherings to chat and build community with other prospective parents.
